Profile: Representative Skip Cleaver – Ward 8

Skip Cleaver
NH House of Representatives
1st term

Representative Cleaver will begin his first term, representing Ward 8, in the 2017-2018 session.

The Nashua Telegraph ran the following posting for Skip on November 2, 2016:

Cleaver is a 42-year resident of Nashua and a Marine Corps veteran. He is a former executive and manager for many years with Nashua Corp., Fidelity, Active Network and others. He has served as a high school teacher and coach, as well as an adjunct business professor at several colleges.

Legislative goals include strengthening public education, all levels, including adequate and equitable funding for public schools; relief of property taxes; and a goal of tuition-free state college education for qualified students. Transportation infrastructure improvements must include construction and repair of roads, bridges, and, importantly, passenger rail to Nashua and Manchester airport.

Road, street and bridge projects should include pedestrian and bike ways for comprehensive transportation. Expanding our economy, creating jobs and an improved business climate must include a moral economy for all: increased minimum wage, affordable, available quality child care, and permanent expansion of Medicaid. Also in health care, we must ensure affordability, a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions; and funding for Planned Parenthood.”
